Black Label Movement presents Canary, Crimson then Emerald, a vibrant, technicolor piece exploring three energies of the pandemic experience - before (Canary), during (Crimson), and emerging (Emerald). Black Label’s unique brand of ballistic movement and intricate partnering captures the tempest of many different emotions and the shifting, sometimes competing, realities that continue to swirl and surge through our society since the pandemic. Canary, Crimson, then Emerald imagines and manifests a renewed and rejuvanated community of support and compassion. An evening length movement poem, the work offers a lifeline to hope, healing, and human touch.
Original development and performances supported in part by a McKnight Foundation Operating Grant, a UMN Grant-in-Aid & a University of Minnesota Imagine Fund Faculty Award.
